Thoracic surgery is the medical specialty that takes care of surgical diseases of the chest and respiratory system (chest wall, trachea, bronchi, lungs, pleura and mediastinum).
Sympathectomy is the surgical removal of specific parts of the main sympathetic nerve, usually performed to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) in the hands, armpits and/or soles of the feet, but also for other therapeutic purposes, such as treating facial flushing, some pain chronic diseases and Raynaud's syndrome. This is a simple, medium-sized surgery performed under general anesthesia.
